About Us

Federation of Gujarati Associations of USA (FOGA-USA) is a cultural non-profit organization with tax-exempt status as per the Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations of the United States of America (click here for the exemption certificate from IRS). EIN: 86-2736605 | IRS Section 501(c)(3) certified non-profit incorporated in Lawrenceville, Georgia, United States.

A "Gujarati" is a person whose ancestry roots trace to the State of Gujarat in Bharat (India). This federation's members are all the Gujarati associations in different areas of USA along with their 1.7 million Gujarati members who have called America their home. Early immigrants from Gujarat to USA in the 1950s were highly educated professionals, and descendants of that generation have also made high levels of advancement into professional fields as physicians, engineers and politicians. The later immigrants in the 1970s to late 2000 ventured into areas of InfoTech, hospitality, healthcare, construction, etc. Currently, there are over 250,000 students from India studying at US universities.

Inheriting the Gujarati heritage of entrepreneurship and business enterprise, Gujjus have reached the remotest corners not only in USA but in the whole world. By blending like sugar in milk with the other communities in USA, as one the highest tax paying community groups and as one of the most educated groups, Gujaratis have contributed in many ways to America's prosperity. This Federation is truly a reflection of this Gujarati spirit of adventure, entrepreneurship, community spirit and philanthropy.
